Even if you have never completed a marathon or run before in your life, this book offers insights into what it takes to achieve your personal goals in fitness, business or life.

"Grahak Cunningham is one of the few people in the world who has successfully completed the 3,100-mile race more than once. To most of us ordinary mortals, just the idea of running more than two marathons a day for 52 days straight would be enough to send us screaming to our beds.
However, with the inspiration of his spiritual Teacher, Sri Chinmoy, a firm foundation in his own spiritual life, and, no doubt, a set of most extraordinary genes, Grahak Cunningham has done it several times.
The book gives an inside look at the experiences of the runners, and draws some lessons that will be useful to all of us when we try to reach goals that are outside our usual range.
The book is, for the most part, well-written and absorbing."

  • I liked the honest way of writing a story that, interspersed with humor, training tips, and wisdom from a genuine spiritual master, documents the world’s longest certified race. I can recommend this book to anyone who can read. It’s message of finding and bringing to the fore our higher self for the sake of personal and collective fulfillment, universally speaks to human beings of all nations and walks of life.
  • An excellent read for anyone who wants to get more out of his or her own life. I've known Grahak from before he started running long distance and it really surprised me when in a "twinkling of an eye" he became from a guy who just runs regularly to one of the top super-ultra runners of the world. All of us has got some secret talents inside ourselves and I also found that there are no better keys of unlocking these secret treasures than meditation and long distance running. If you need some inspiration than read this. Grahak is also an excellent writer, playwright, actor and director in his own right. He is a guy gifted with endless fun and humor. So, these capacities of his lift the book high as an excellent read.
On a personal note, I used to run long distance myself but because of some injures and health problems I have to be satisfied with shorter distances these days. So, this book brought back my absolutely golden memories of never ending miles on the road, plus gave me tons of inspiration to try get back those golden moments.
Anyway the book is unusually sincere, very funny and full of good advice for any aspiring runner.
A book about challenging the Himalayan peaks of human potential but also about sincerity, humility other great virtues not that easy to find in today's society.
I couldn't put it down till finishing the last page.
Thank you very much Grahak for sharing these stories!

  • Loved the book -- the easygoing philosophical style, the humour, the sheer grittiness of tackling that course day after day, during a steaming New York summer. Grahak is such a humble runner and narrator. As the book progresses, you begin to understand how he survived the 3100-mile races in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In fact, most of the book is about his toughest races. But by the end, you realise that a champion emerged from all these struggles. Grahak not only won the event in 2012, after a three year layoff, but seems to have arrived at a new place in his heart and in his life beyond the race course. His determination, confidence and courage are uplifting and infectious!
  • It was a while since I read a book so quickly. It is a insightful look a the amazing 3100 mile race and it's fascinating, inspiring, motivating... The author presents ideas and life principals that are at the same time simple and very profound, in a very honest and direct way. This incredible race is as life itself and although life and the 3100 mile race are difficult in both we can and should manifest something deep in ourselves and achieve happiness and it is so easy to forget this but thanks to this book I was reminded of this. I am giving 5 stars without any second thought.
  • I will say I am a runner but reading the trials and tribulations noted on the pages of this book are humbling. The reasons we run are truly for ourselves and this book inspires me to do more for others. Well worth the read.
  • I love this book. The style of the author is so charming and dynamic that I can hardly put the book down.
Full of entertaining stories, tough and joyful experiences, it really inspires us to go beyond our capacities and try to transcend ourselves.
As a non-native English reader my only difficulty was the very rich vocabulary, but fortunately there is an English dictionary included in .

I recommend this book, five star.
  • I really did enjoy the book. A little slow at times but overall a very good read. Hard to think people can do a run like that.
